    Post by cenobyte Wed 1 Apr 2009 - 12:26

I changed the design of the Forums, because the old layout wasn't displaying properly in Firefox, and was taking for-freaking-ever to load.

    So.

    Don't be too alarmed.

I'm sure you weren't too alarmed. Just wanted to let you know that the change was intentional.

Still have a big blank box just under the "Home / Calendar / Gallery / etc" links, which is the other thing I'd noticed.

EDIT: Not that it matters, just thought I'd let you know.

I read a study that proves that this particular shade of purple actually increases the libido.

I am less than 100% sure I was not lying just now.

You have totally succeeded in confusing me. I would like to think that "I am not sure I was not lying" translates to "I am sure I was lying" but the whole percentage thing throws me for a loop. If you are, for example, 95% sure that something didn't happen, then are you 5% sure that it did? "Less than 100%" strongly implies near 100%, which means you aren't very sure at all that you were lying. Which means you probably weren't!

*sigh* I have to stop overthinking things.

    It implies nothing.

That just says she could be anywhere from certain she was lying to slightly in doubt of the truth of her statement.

I know that logically it implies nothing, but humans tend to phrase things certain ways when they mean certain things. That's all I meant.

Anyway I just figured out (OK, Paul figured out) the blank rectangle. Before you log in, there is a banner ad, which firefox & adblock are blocking for me. (I'm new to adblock, so not yet used to seeing big empty spaces).

The reason for the phrasing was to mirror the preceding statement without admitting anything definite.

Since a lie is a deliberate untruth, however, people are generally certain about whether or not it is a lie, which would lead one to believe that your first instinct was correct.

    And, actually on topic:
Aw crap, everything has gone wonky again.

Yeah, the only thing that's really wonky on my end is that the blog appears to be down.

Y'know, I'm tempted to find another forum/blog host. But 'cept I'd really hate to lose the posts and stuff we have now.

    SIGH.

And yes, most of the time I don't not communicate like 'most people'. Somewhere between 45% of the time and 87% of the time, I refuse to not be entirely comprehensible.

My own statements weren't meant to be thoroughly examined any more than Jill's were. It was a joke.

The forum seems to work fine in all configurations for me. I like the new looks but reading the white writing on black background hurts my eyes. Can we personalize how we see it in our own profile?

Jill does not regularily speak fanboy, but she does know the language as she seems to collect fanboys. And she does occasionally use the language to express her shameless joy at the power geek items she truly loves.
