Magic Creation-Zeal Table Empty Magic Creation-Zeal Table

    Post by Corral Wed 14 Jul 2010 - 19:31

I will also post this in the new forums when I can do so, but in the meantime since they are up, people will probably be considering character concepts and maybe even playing around with statting them up. I figured I'd post this handy table I made while I was doing the same...

    Highest Archetype
    Next Highest
    Next Highest
    Remaining Zeal
    6
    3
    1
    0
    6
    2
    2
    3
    5
    4
    2
    0
    5
    3
    3
    3
    4
    4
    3
    6

This is the maximum archetypes for every given combination of the base 75 zeal. Note that you can always go *lower* but never higher. ie, If you're determined to have a stat at 6, this table tells you that your next highest cannot be higher than 3. However, I haven't bothered listing numbers lower than this: you can always lessen any of the archetypes - for example, 6/1/1 or 4/3/2 - in order to have more leftover zeal for transgressions and affections.

Also note that you cannot go below 1. If I'm reading the book correctly (and somebody please inform me if I'm not) you start out with 1 point in each archetype without spending the 3 points you might expect to have to pay for that, and then the 2nd level is still 6 points to purchase.

    Like so:

    Archetype
    Cost for this level alone
Total cost to get to this level
    1
    0
    0
    2
    6
    6
    3
    9
    15
    4
    12
    27
    5
    15
    42
    6
    18
    60
    ...et cetera.

I do sort of miss the days of "You have 1 Archtype in each of Body, Mind and Soul. You then get three Archtypes to distribute as you desire."

Unless my rules are a change from the BRB, you can not start with 6 archetypes normally. Only if you have a rank of maturity may you exceed the max of 5 -- prior to character creation, that is.

Yes, that is correct (Alan): you cannot begin the game with more than 5 Archetypes in any of your Sets, unless you take Maturity (which increases the cost of every Archetype by 3 (not by a *factor* of three) per rank of Maturity you've taken).

A good way to remember what each Archetype costs to purchase is to multiply the level you're trying to attain by three. I'm sorry, but I don't find Laura's tables helpful; I find them terribly confusing. If y'all find them helpful, more power to you!

Also-too, remember that any leftover Creation Zeal you may have can be put into stengthening your Affections (Domus, Chosen Weapon, etc.) or toward purchasing Transgressions.
